Lemons and Jade Triptych began as a conversation between color and memory.

The lemons arrived first — bright, generous, and full of light — spilling across the panels like a small harvest brought indoors. Around them, the blue vase, teapot, and little potted plant settled into place like familiar companions at a table that has seen many slow mornings. Nothing in the scene feels rushed. I was committed to naming every piece in this still life series with a common idiom, so I started researching gardenia-related phrases. The most delightful discovery was that the perfect names were right there in the garden catalog: there are two distinct, popular varieties of gardenia that share the exact names of this painting's title—the 'Bada Bing' and the 'Bada Boom' gardenias. It was the perfect, serendipitous convergence of language, art, and nature.
