Undercurrent is part of my ongoing exploration of the space between abstraction and recognition. I begin without a fixed image in mind, building layers of color, marks, and shapes and allowing the painting to suggest its own direction. As forms emerge, I respond to what I see rather than forcing the work back toward an original plan.
